Also known as ‘pressotherapy', compression therapy is an advanced form of lymphatic drainage massage that uses specially designed garments that gently inflate to precise, pre-set pressures. Using the proven principles of manual lymphatic drainage massage, it offers an effective answer to a number of aesthetic and health concerns including cellulite, water retention, poor skin tone and sluggish digestion that can lead to bloating and discomfort.
Compression therapy has a considerable medical pedigree that dates back to the 1950’s when the first machines were introduced to treat life-changing conditions such as lymphoedema and fibrosis. Over the years, these medical-grade systems have evolved and compression therapy is now a well-known and accepted aesthetic treatment in many countries.
We offer the following treatment packages for compression therapy:
- 30 minute taster sessions for £40
- 45 minute session for £59
- 3 sessions for £160 (save £17)
- 6 sessions for £310 (saving £44)
Please contact us directly to book a compression therapy package. Alternatively, you can let us know at your first appointment that you'd like to create a bundle of appointments.
Please reach us at narissa@serenetherapiesnottingham.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Our new compression therapy system uses patent protected inflating compression garments to apply a gentle to firm massage. Each garment contains 24 individual air chambers that overlap to apply fluent compression strokes that target every inch of the treated area. This massage motion, with its special direction of flow, increases circulation and gently but thoroughly decongests the problem areas of hips, thighs, and buttocks.
We have a specialised garment that is used to treat the lower parts of the body - the lower abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs and the entire lower leg.
In this day and age, we’re consistently exposed to so many toxins in our everyday environments. This toxic overload is just too much for our bodies to handle metabolically, and it consistently puts our lymphatic system under stress. If the lymphatic system gets blocked or overrun (through stress, illness, lack of activity or toxic overload), it can lead to a host of problems such as swelling, excess cellulite, joint pain, nausea and fatigue. Compression therapy stimulates the lymphatic system which aids immune function and digestion, eliminates water retention and ensures the effective delivery of fats and fat-soluble vitamins into the bloodstream.
This depends on the specific issue that's being treated. For bloating and puffiness caused by excess water retention, significant results can be obtained in as little as a single session.
Treatment is not recommended where the following conditions are present:
● Currently undergoing treatment for cancer
● Heart problems, including pacemakers
● Strokes or a history of strokes
● Diagnosed or suspected DVT or a history of DVT
If there is any uncertainty about whether a contraindication may be present, please speak to your therapist before/upon booking.
Contrary to what most people think, cellulite isn't actually fat - it's just retained water. Compression therapy improves the function of the lymphatic and circulatory systems which leads to the rapid elimination of excess fluid and reduces volume and ‘puffiness’ in the treated areas. It's a non-invasive way to drop a dress size in as little as 2 sessions.
